Vitek Select Master Series Maggini Controlto Viola 1610

All Vitek Select Master Series violas are meticulously hand-crafted with the finest quality aged European seasoned maple and spruce. These violas are made by senior luthiers successfully recreating the dark, rich tone of the Old Brescian Masters. This Maggini model aims to reproduce features and nuances of the original models of these instruments, with meticulous attention to scroll and f-hole carving, top and back archings, and wear-patterns of the varnish. Brescia’s luthiers often set the sound holes a little higher than was later customary in Cremona and as a result, the bridge position is shortened by a few millimetres, which is also the case with this model. This viola is therefore comfortable to play while benefitting from the large body volume and easy playability of a smaller viola – due to the shorter string length. The Vitek Select Master Series Maggini Controlto Viola 1610 successfully recreates the legendary Brescian tone that is desired by professionals.
